Not long now until Thoughtbubble folks. Here's a few of the original watercolour editions Ive been doing recently. Each one is individual, painted on handmade rag paper and tipped-in to each copy. I had fifty copies printed with a blank inside cover, with my original intention to draw straight onto the cover, however the watercolours didn't take to the inside cover as they are very smooth. I Unknownnoreply@blogger.com165tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-56715768630115159672016-08-18T11:44:00.001+01:002016-10-05T11:05:44.934+01:00Charles Dickens' The Signal Man is on the horizonSo THE SIGNAL MAN is now available for sale. I will be at ThoughtBubble with my latest sketchbooks, all with a custom coloured sketch inside. An ultra-limited version of The Signal Man (50 only) each with a original watercolour on handmade paper tipped-in, a selection of prints and original artwork.
Hopefully Jason will also be at ThoughtBubble, this will possibly be the only Unknownnoreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-37108071229327728562016-05-25T15:09:00.000+01:002016-05-25T15:09:07.669+01:00Just in case anyone pops by - here's some picturesUnknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-63609067942282292242016-02-15T11:20:00.002+00:002016-02-15T11:20:27.826+00:00A few pictures and stuffJust lately I've been doing a lot more colour than I normally do, my poor little Reeves paint box is about dry. Here's a few Black Book coloured drawings. Thanks to all those who ordered the book in advance, which enabled me to get it printed. After that initial 50 I've had some difficulty selling the rest. I've got about 20 still to sketch inside, and roughly 20+ with sketches done. It's been a little disappointing in as much as folk have asked for certain characters/sketches, Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-48496134734176522572015-03-24T14:14:00.001+00:002015-03-24T14:14:29.108+00:00BLACK BOOKHello all, if you don't see my facebook posts then you may not be aware of my 100 page A4 size, sketchbook/artbook which is imminent. Many moons ago I would produce a small A5 sketchbook every year, I've not done that for a while now so thought it was the ideal time to compile one. There will only be 100 copies of this collection, mainly because
I will be doodling in each and every one. Well, I momentarily couldn't remember my password... that's a great start. The release of the Titan edition of Springheeled Jack seems to be doing pretty well, I was worried as the book has had a few bites at the cherry. Thanks to everyone who has recently bought it, but moreso to those of you who have forked out for it again - at least this time it's a great format, larger than theUnknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-63462071737879661372014-07-02T16:03:00.000+01:002014-07-03T09:39:02.405+01:00
Hello all. Not long now before the release of ABOVE THE DREAMLESS DEAD (23/09/2014), the WW1 trench poem anthology. I was very proud to be part of this book, edited by Chris Duffy, published by First Second in the US. Deadman's Dump, a poem by Isaac Rosenberg, is a gritty re-telling of the first few days of the futile battle. Pat Mills turned the poem into a superb short story, full of meaning Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-24198189814981308982014-01-21T14:10:00.000+00:002014-01-21T14:10:32.286+00:00Happy New Year...oh, wait, that was a good few weeks ago now.
I had a busy December which meant working solidly to get a short story illustrated for the legendary Pat Mills. Of course, I didnt mind, the chance to work with such a staple of the industry does not present itself very often. I can see why he has the 'Godfather of British Comics' tagline, because he turned a very grim poem into a Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-53020895396050102332013-10-23T15:52:00.000+01:002013-10-23T15:54:09.907+01:00Let's get through these cobwebs shall we?
Hello all, it's been a while since I posted on here. There's been a few things going on at DH towers, although they are in various stages of limbo, awaiting the green light. It's best not to elaborate just yet so here's a recent commission in stages (by way of posting somekind of image to the post)

Hello Folks, Here are a couple of blank covers I've done recently. I'll be doing blank cover watercolours at the upcoming Earls Court London Film & Comic Con, so if you fancy one let me know in advance, chances are I won't be able to knock one out while you wait. I'll have a selection of original art pages for sale too, including this Hellboy A3

This is a strange one, in as much as I have absolutely no idea how it ends yet ;) anyway, here's a taster.

Hello folks
How are you all? I've been fairly productive just lately, despite upping sticks to a new (ancient) house, with stone walls so thick no modern communication device can penetrate. So apologies for delays in posts, at least now I have an excuse. The Batman pic was produced for a German collector who has a perchant for battle damaged heroes, and the first time Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-9789570030641053972013-03-12T15:05:00.001+00:002013-03-12T15:09:21.528+00:00Hellboy peice
I have many artists that I really admire, and this recent peice encompasses two legends. Arthur Rackham, the victorian children's book illustrator is a major influence on me, although I dont think it shows in my work so much. Mike Mignola is a current master of composition and creepiness currently back on his Hellboy series. For this illustration I thought it would be visually interesting to Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-78307259149374127982013-03-05T16:13:00.000+00:002013-03-05T16:13:06.604+00:00
Hello all---Well, over a week ago already since LSCC. What a great show it was, sold all the pre-con painted sketches which paid for the rather expensive weekend. Sadly I didn't get to even see any of the major names due to the enormous queues that were a permanent fixture of the show. I was on David Lloyd's ACES WEEKLY table and the sketchcards went like proverbial hotcakes. It was a Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-85580090159139536732013-01-25T16:11:00.002+00:002013-01-25T16:11:50.863+00:00Batman commissionHello folks
Ages ago I was asked to do a 'Batman on gargoyle' commission for a collector over on Comic Art Fans website. He collects art from many top rank artists, so I knew had to go to town on this one. I started it last weekend, but only got to do the figure, so spent time during the frozen nights this week building the rest...brick by brick.
In other news my pitch for Springheeled Jack is Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-36356431155067776012013-01-09T18:06:00.000+00:002013-01-09T18:06:23.891+00:00Hello all
Looking round my spare room, I see that there's no that much room spare at all. So, I'm going to delve deep into my archives and start selling some original art. Currently I've got well over 200 A3 pages, propped up against the wall. So, anyone who might want original art pages from Springheeled Jack (only a few left), The Sixpenny Murder (8 page story), Mother's Love (a&Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-37083033371506834782012-12-27T15:55:00.000+00:002012-12-27T15:55:00.265+00:00Hello guys and gals
2013 is on the horizon so I thought I'd better do a little update. I'll make it a new year's resolution to post more on here...honest. In this post I'll show you a couple of pics (for you dedicated blog readers only). A coupla months back I was asked to produce a few character sketches/designs for comic book writer and all-round good guy RAFAEL NIEVES. He has workedUnknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-21640603631498227492012-12-05T12:14:00.001+00:002012-12-05T12:14:41.707+00:00Hi all
I don't do that many caricatures nowadays. I do two colour cartoons a week for the paper I work at, which I have to do at the weekend, which cuts into any creative time I may have. I was recently asked by a work colleague if I could do a caricature of her husband, for his upcoming 30th birthday. I always ask what their respective hobbies are, what they like, any other specific items whichUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-76921389549128615002012-11-27T15:48:00.000+00:002012-11-27T15:48:16.343+00:00Greetings one and all
Last saturday I accompanied DAVID LLOYD on the ACES WEEKLY stand at a show at the NEC in Birmingham. I was supposed to attend Thought Bubble the week before, I was looking forward to it, but was cruely struck down with a sickness bug a couple of days before it. So I went to memorabilia to make up for it.
Normally I would not try and sell comics at a show like this (I triedUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666068.post-51879239563809683232012-11-20T11:15:00.000+00:002012-11-20T11:15:37.460+00:00
Hi Folks, Well, as I couldn't get to ThoughtBubble I thought I'd best console myself with posting the second of the Paris show pics. It's a month ago already. It was a great privilege to have the main man Biz signing and sketching on the Aaltair table, and I hope we get chance to do it again as it was a hugely enjoyable weekend, lots of SHJ books signed and sketched. So, it's been a week since Paris already. We had a great time, my wife came with me (first time to a comic show in over 20 years), we did some sightseeing (after the event of course) and Simon was an absolute gent all weekend (at one point we got a bit lost, ended up on the metro, and he carried an old woman's luggage up a flight of stairs... bless the Biz!. This coming weekend I'll be doing another signing for the French edition of SPRINGHEELED JACK.
This one I'll be with Simon Bisley, who is not only one of my favourite artists, but he produced the cover, endpapers and a special 'ex-libris' Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
